August 2020 Newsletter

Letter from GlobalPlatform’s Executive Director

While August is a popular month to vacation, we will be busy preparing for our IoT Security and Certification Workshop in Taiwan. We have several exciting speakers confirmed for the workshop presenting in-person as well as from virtual locations. The workshop will take place on August 25.

Elsewhere it’s also time to start thinking about the 2020 Fall Meetings. Following the virtualization of this year’s physical Spring Meetings due to COVID-19, we are more excited than ever to host our members from November 16 – 20 in Athens. We are also prepared to ‘go-virtual’ with our Fall meetings if current circumstances continue.

In addition, we have a host of new thought leadership content included below, offering valuable insight into industry developments and GlobalPlatform’s work.

Join our IoT security and certification scheme workshop in Taiwan

On 25 August, GlobalPlatform and Winbond will be hosting a free to attend workshop at the Sheraton Hsinchu Hotel in Zhubei City, Taiwan.

Organized in collaboration with partners Arm and Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), the workshop offers delegates the opportunity to get the latest information on Secure Components and understand evaluation methodologies designed to support IoT manufacturers and certification bodies to establish their own security certification schemes.

With COVID-19 disrupting business travel for many of our members, we recognize that attendance will be difficult for those outside of Taiwan. Therefore, we intend to record the workshop and post presentations to the member website following the event.

Save the date for the Fall Meetings

This year our Fall Meetings are scheduled to take place    in Athens from November 16 – 20.  Our sincere hope is that we are able to host this physical meeting to allow GlobalPlatform members to engage on a personal level with their peers. But, we are fully prepared to go virtual if it should become necessary.  Either way, we intend to bring forward valuable and exciting discussions about our organization’s ongoing initiatives and priorities for fiscal 2021.

We look forward to hosting you.
