Functional Certification

For SE and TEE products

The program evaluates the functional behavior of a product against the requirements outlined by GlobalPlatform configurations and associated specifications to achieve market interoperability. Independent testing provides confirmation that a digital service will perform as intended in the field on any certified product, regardless of the product provider.

GlobalPlatform acts as registration authority for all qualification claims. It has launched a dedicated Secretariat which manages the issuance of the qualified trademark to test tools and laboratories, as well as oversee product certification. For an overview of the Secretariat’s role and the processes implemented by GlobalPlatform to manage this program, download An Introduction to GlobalPlatform Compliance Secretariat.

Read GlobalPlatform Self Testing and Product Qualification Processes to understand the procedures to be completed by a product manufacturer to certify a product. This document also explains the respective responsibilities between product vendor, test tool supplier, test laboratory and GlobalPlatform.

Participating in Functional Certification

For SE and TEE products

For test tool providers or test laboratories to achieve the GlobalPlatform qualification status to provide functional SE and TEE certifications, your organization must be a GlobalPlatform Full Member or Participating Member in good standing.

Test tool providers must also commit to and participate in the TestFest process: a series of meetings that bring together GlobalPlatform member organizations to establish relationships and undertake tests between secure components and test tools in a variety of multi-vendor and multi-tool combinations.

Non-GlobalPlatform members wishing to purchase member documents such as Test Suites, please visit Test Suites.
