GlobalPlatform To Host A One Day Seminar At CTIA WIRELESS 2009

12 February, 2009 – GlobalPlatform, the international specification body for smart card infrastructure, has announced that it will host a one day seminar at CTIA WIRELESS, the largest trade show in the wireless industry. The seminar will be held on the first day of the event, Tuesday 31 March, from 09:00 to 17:00 in room N254 of the Las Vegas Convention Center, USA.

Sponsored by GlobalPlatform members SmartTrust, Gemalto, VIVOtech and Giesecke and Devrient the seminar, titled Implementing Mobile Contactless Services with GlobalPlatform Specifications, is aimed at any party involved in deploying mobile contactless services to end users, such as program and project managers, system integrators and representatives from mobile network operators. It will address how a mobile contactless ecosystem can be deployed to support the various business models of different stakeholders – such as mobile operators, financial institutions and transit operators – in a flexible, secure and standardized framework.

Gil Bernabeu, Technical Director of GlobalPlatform, comments: “ Mobile contactless technology is progressing at an exciting pace, however wide scale deployments are challenging. Using GlobalPlatform technology can help to reduce the risk by providing a neutral and secure infrastructure. This seminar demonstrates GlobalPlatform’s commitment to furthering education concerning the benefits and opportunities created by open and interoperable specifications, and advancing the deployment of its technology within the mobile services landscape to demonstrate the real potential of contactless services.”

Delegates attending the session will be provided with a thorough understanding of GlobalPlatform’s role within the contactless marketplace and how its technology can facilitate the deployment of contactless services. Real world implementations, pilots and future use case examples will be shared with the delegates throughout the one day session.
