Groupement des Cartes Bancaires "CB" Joins GlobalPlatform
16 May 2011 – Groupement des Cartes Bancaires, the French Economic Interest Group (EIG) which manages CB interbank, payment and cash withdrawal systems, has joined GlobalPlatform.
By joining GlobalPlatform, the organization which standardizes the management of applications on secure chip technology, Groupement de Cartes Bancaires is able to keep abreast of key technical specifications from GlobalPlatform that support emerging payment trends , such as near field communication (NFC) technology. It will also be able to contribute to GlobalPlatform debates regarding the future direction and development of the association’s technology advancements.
Groupement des Cartes Bancaires will participate as an Observer Member and will take an active role within the association’s Mobile Task Force and Advisory Council as well as attending the All-Member meetings.
Jean-Yves Duveau, Direction Development & Strategy at Groupement des Cartes Bancaires, comments: “After creating our own payment specifications, we identified the increasing need for the development of industry specific technology guidelines and standards.
