GlobalPlatform Selects Eric Le Saint from ActivIdentity as its Systems Committee Chair

October 28, 2009 – ActivIdentity Corporation (NASDAQ: ACTI), a global leader in strong authentication and credential management, and GlobalPlatform, the worldwide leader in smart card infrastructure development, today announced that Eric Le Saint, ActivIdentity’s director of security, IP and standards engagement, has been elected as GlobalPlatform’s Systems Committee Chair.

The GlobalPlatform Systems Committee defines open specifications to support the back-office infrastructure of any smart card program, as well as developing, maintaining and evolving specific functionality to support the life cycle of GlobalPlatform smart cards and their applications. The technology created is industry neutral and facilitates convergence between mobile solutions, contact- and contactless solutions, physical and logical access, and applications for finance, m-commerce, government or enterprise ID, healthcare and transportation.

Mr. Le Saint will drive the system committee's work to meet the advancing requirements of various markets by liaising with GlobalPlatform’s Government and Mobile Task Forces, and progressing joint initiatives with relevant industry bodies. More specifically over the coming twelve months he will lead GlobalPlatform’s efforts to develop a messaging configuration for trusted service managers and mobile network operators which supports over-the-air data exchange and will also progress a messaging configuration for the identity community which streamlines the issuance of identity documents.

"Eric has been involved in GlobalPlatform for several years and led the organization's identity cards working group where he contributed significantly to GlobalPlatform's Messaging Configuration for the mass personalization of U.S. Personal Identity Verification cards" said Kevin Gillick, executive director at GlobalPlatform. "We believe Eric brings a combination of technology expertise, passion for achievement and the ability to meet the needs of our members that will serve our systems committee well."

"The selection of Eric showcases the caliber of executive we have at ActivIdentity,” said Grant Evans, chairman and chief executive officer at ActivIdentity. “We're proud of his accomplishments within GlobalPlatform and we’ll give him all the support he needs to be successful in his new role as Systems Committee Chair. As a company we actively support the work of GlobalPlatform and other industry associations or standardization bodies. We are committed to working in cooperation with all stakeholders to ensure the creation of standards that will support multi-application, multi-actor and multi-business model implementations.”

At ActivIdentity, Mr. Le Saint defines product security policies and approves product releases that meet these policies. He also plays an active leadership role in the standardization of U.S. government ID cards with NIST / ISO and the U.S. Department of Defense. Furthermore, he has been appointed as editor of the ANSI Generic Identity Command Set (GICS).
