GlobalPlatform Reaches Out To A Smart Audience For 7th Year Running
26 June 2006 - GlobalPlatform, the world leader in smart card infrastructure development and deployment, once again joins international smart card association, Eurosmart and the Java Card Forum, to host the 7th annual e-Smart conference, taking place on September 19, 20, 21 and 22 in Sophia Antipolis, French Riviera. This year, the event where leading smart card experts converge to discuss current trends and future challenges, is expected to attract an audience of 550 delegates, from over 40 countries.
Delegates will benefit from an incisive overview of the smart card industry’s future, featuring four days of presentations that have been selected by a distinguished scientific committee, including presentations from GlobalPlatform’s Card and Device Committees, and a session moderated by GlobalPlatform’s Technical Director. For the second year running, and in addition to the core program, delegates will have the option to register for GlobalPlatform’s full day Technical Training Workshop, which will open the event on 19 September.
Mobile Telecom and Security will emerge as the core themes in this year’s conference, alongside discussions of Emerging Technologies, Java Operating systems, and Trusted Personal Devices.
GlobalPlatform’s Technical Director and Technical Advisor at Gemalto, Gil Bernabeu, will moderate the Applications and Markets session on day one of the conference, encompassing a range of presentations on the topic of emerging trends in applications with particular reference to mobile and payments. Within this session GlobalPlatform’s Card Committee Chair and Senior Smart Card Systems Architect for IBM, Klaus Gungl will deliver a presentation - Perspectives of Interoperable Card Content Management using GlobalPlatform Card Specification V2.2 – that will further delegates’ understanding of the application management capabilities of GlobalPlatform’s next generation card specification and its applicability to both Java and MULTOS open platform environments.
Laurent Coureau, GlobalPlatform’s Device Committee Chair and Strategic Advisor to the CTO of Orange, will deliver a presentation during the afternoon of the second day of the conference (21 September) within the Mobile Telecom, World Convergence for Multimedia stream - How to solve some mobile operator security concerns: from the protection of operator’s assets to new business model improvement.
Following its successful launch at e-Smart last year, GlobalPlatform will again deliver a full-day Technical Educational Training Workshop at Smart University on 19 September, the event opener in the series of conferences. GlobalPlatform’s Technical Education Training Workshop is the industry’s first interactive curriculum that has been designed to educate smart card technology implementers and end users on the advantages in deploying a standardized smart card program.
The technical workshop addresses the value of each component within the smart card infrastructure - the card, device and system, and the business benefits each component brings to the marketplace. Following this introduction, the main focus is to provide a technical education on the various business models and uses for implementing each of the GlobalPlatform Specifications. The session concludes with a real world example on the implementation of GlobalPlatform’s for a government smart card project.
e-Smart, has now grown to encompass three additional international conferences aligned with the event; Smart University, World e-ID, and Ambient Intelligence Development.
