GlobalPlatform Announces a Third UICC-Focused Card Specification Training Session in Q1 2010

19 January 2010 – GlobalPlatform, the international specification body for smart card infrastructure, has announced that it will host an additional one-day UICC-focused card specification training session in Q1 2010.  The session will be held on 22 February 2010 at the Marriott City Center Hotel in Salt Lake City, US to coincide with the Smart Card Alliance 2010 Payments Summit, and brings the total number of GlobalPlatform UICC training sessions open to industry professionals during this period to three.

Designed to educate delegates on the benefits of adopting open and interoperable specifications within mobile UICC deployments, GlobalPlatform's training days for Q1 2010 are confirmed as:

  • 29 January 2010 in Beijing, China to align with Sun Microsystems's JavaCard China Telco Summit
  • 22 February 2010 in Salt Lake City, US to coincide with Smart Card Alliance's Payments Summit
  • 16 March 2010 in Hong Kong, China to be held in conjunction with Cartes in Asia.

Delivered in English by GlobalPlatform certified trainers, the sessions will provide delegates with a working knowledge of the association's royalty-free technology, and will be tailored to meet the requirements of the intended audience at each industry gathering.

Kevin Gillick, Executive Director of GlobalPlatform, comments: "The carefully designed training program provides an insight into GlobalPlatform's Card Specifications and forthcoming technical releases.  Within these specific sessions, significant focus is given to discussing the functionality offered by GlobalPlatform's UICC Configuration - a technical guide which outlines a common and neutral environment to facilitate the secure delivery over-the-air of new and creative mobile services to consumers.

"The training is open to all interested parties but there are only a limited number of seats available in each session to ensure a dynamic learning environment, so we encourage prompt registration."

The cost of the training session is US $995 for GlobalPlatform members and US $1,495 for non-members.  Further discounts are available to Smart Card Alliance members.  To view the agendas or to register your attendance, please visit: https://globalplatform.wpengine.com/trainingopen.asp.
