HID Global

HID Global is an American manufacturer of secure identity solutions that is headquartered in Austin, Texas. The company was formed in 1991 as a subsidiary of Hughes Aircraft and is now part of the ASSA ABLOY sister company Indala.

HID Global supplies products, services and solutions related to the creation, management, and use of secure identities to device manufacturers, integrators and developers that serve a variety of markets, including physical access control; IT security, including strong authentication/credential management; card personalization; visitor management; government ID; and identification technologies for a range of applications

GlobalPlatform-Based Solutions:

  • All ActivIdentity Solutions for Enterprise products support the GlobalPlatform Card Specification, including: ActivClientTM, ActivIdentity CMS, ActivKeyTM, and ActivIdentity Applets.
  • All ActivIdentity Solutions for Government products support the GlobalPlatform Card Specification: ActivIdentity CMS, ActivClientTM, and ActivIdentity Applets.

GlobalPlatform Implementation Programs:

  • The Department of Defense (DoD) Common Access Card (CAC) program. The ActivIdentity digital identity protection platform has enabled the DoD to issue a single smart card that incorporates identification credentials including a digital photo of the user, information necessary for both facility and network access, benefits entitlement and a digital signature for electronic transactions. The card is essentially an electronic key for secure logical access to the department's computer networks, physical access to military bases and other DoD facilities, complete with a miniature computer capable of downloading programs to enable future capabilities.
