Digital Wallet Seminar
October 16, 2025, Brussels, Belgium
Europe’s cross-border digital identity initiative—the European Digital Identity (EUDI) Wallet—is set to begin rolling out across EU member states starting in 2026.
With just a year to go—is Europe prepared for this digital ID revolution?
That’s the central question we’ll explore at the third annual seminar focused on eID and digital identity. This year, we are broadening the scope of the event from eID wallets to mobile digital wallets to reflect the expanding role of digital wallets in supporting identity, payments and digital currencies. The newly named Digital Wallet Seminar is taking place in Brussels on 16 October 2025. This event will once again bring together key stakeholders from Europe’s digital identity ecosystem, including representatives from EU institutions, member states, and the private sector.
Many national schemes and trials are already underway—and this year we’ll hear learnings from several large-scale pilots, and details of several new ones. These early implementations underscore the mobile digital wallet’s emerging role as the cornerstone of interoperability for both identity and payments.
Security is at the heart of these efforts—ensuring that citizens and businesses can access digital public and private services with trust, privacy, and confidence.
For more than 20 years, GlobalPlatform technologies have underpinned secure solutions in the identity, payments, and government sectors—from ID cards and ePassports to banking cards and mobile wallets. Today, GlobalPlatform continues to evolve its secure element specifications and develop new technologies to support innovation and use cases for EUDI deployments, including Secure Application on Mobile (SAM) and Cryptographic Service Providers (CSPs).
Join us to explore the future of secure digital identity in Europe.

The digitization of identities and payments, including Central Bank Digital Currencies (CBDCs), presents a transformative opportunity in the financial landscape. This mutual integration – digital identities and digital payments – not only boosts the security and efficiency of digital transactions but also unlocks new use cases in personal finance, government services, and beyond. Enhanced digital identities linked with digital payments could lead to more tailored financial products, improved access to banking, and robust fraud prevention mechanisms, driving the digital economy forward with greater trust and inclusivity. On the contrary an integration of digital identities into payment schemes reveals challenges as well.
