The Digital Wallets Task Force is chaired by Jean-Daniel Aussel from Thales. All GlobalPlatform members are eligible to participate in this group.
The purpose of the Digital Wallets Task Force (DWTF) is to identify, analyze, and address use cases for digital wallets within and beyond Europe, where GlobalPlatform technologies can play a critical role. This includes, but is not limited to, digital identity, CBDC wallets, business credentials, and any digital wallets requiring high levels of trust, privacy, and security.
The objectives of the Task Force include:
The deliverables of the Digital Wallets Task Force (DWTF) will consist of high-level requirements and white papers that provide the necessary support to the Technical Committees where any required solutions and specifications will be developed.
The deployment and adoption of secure digital wallets is rapidly expanding and now includes several use cases from personal identity to Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) wallets, Business Identity Wallets, and other digital wallets that require robust security and privacy measures.
For Digital Identity, the primary focus of the Digital Wallets Task Force (DWTF) is Government Identity within and beyond Europe, to clarify GlobalPlatform’s role in addressing the long-term needs of governments engaged in large-scale ID and e-ID deployments. It will also have an element where global initiatives will be considered and analyzed.
Beyond Digital Identity, the purpose of the Digital Wallets Task Force (DWTF) is to identify, analyze, and address use cases for digital wallets where GlobalPlatform technologies can play a critical role.
