Thank you and farewell Kevin Gillick

Last month we bid a fond farewell to our Executive Director, Kevin Gillick, who has departed from GlobalPlatform to enjoy life in retirement. For over 15 years, Kevin has led many varied and successful initiatives and we thank him for helping grow GlobalPlatform into the vibrant organization that it is today.

We hope to be able to announce our new Executive Director soon. In the meantime, myself, our Technical Director Gil Bernabeu, and the Board of Directors will continue to drive GlobalPlatform forward to secure digital services and devices.

Our 2021 annual report is now available to read online. The document explores how GlobalPlatform is empowering stakeholders across connected ecosystems to build, certify, deploy and manage trusted digital services and devices.

The report also details the current actions GlobalPlatform is taking to advance its standards for securing connected industries as well as how it plans to continue this progress. It also outlines the importance of collaboration, offering tangible data to show the value of membership.

SESIP Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Our recent FAQ document provides answers to many of the questions often asked about the GlobalPlatform Security Evaluation Standard for IoT Platforms (SESIP). It helps developers and issuers understand what the security certificate is, why it is important, and how they can benefit from it.

Conforming to GlobalPlatform’s SESIP methodology can be used as part of demonstrating compliance to an IoT device standard, providing reusable evidence that security requirements are covered by the device.

NEWS: GlobalPlatform launches free MUD File Service

The free beta of our Manufacturer Usage Description (MUD) file service has now launched. The service aims to simplify and secure IoT device network onboarding and management, offering manufacturers a new way to manage their networks.

By allowing manufacturers to share the intent, capabilities and requirements of their devices, the MUD File Service helps solve scalability issues in the growing IoT ecosystem while ensuring the environment remains safe and secure.

Fall meetings to be a virtual and face-to-face hybrid

Join us from November 15-19 for our Fall Meetings, which will be held as hybrid virtual and in-person events.

The meetings provide members with an opportunity to input to the strategic and technical priorities of GlobalPlatform. They are also a time to celebrate the many successes achieved over the past year and reconnect with fellow members face-to-face. Please register your attendance for each meeting you plan to attend on the GlobalPlatform Member website by Friday, October 29.

This month we are delighted to welcome new members Goldpac Limited and An Security Pte Ltd.

Goldpac is one of China’s earliest fintech enterprises with nearly 30 years’ experience delivering embedded software, secure payment products and digital equipment for global customers in the field of intelligent secure payments.

An Security is a Singapore-based independent security evaluation lab. It is approved by the Cyber Security Agency (CSA) of Singapore to conduct evaluations for Common Criteria and Singapore’s National IT Evaluation Scheme and Cybersecurity Labelling Scheme. An Security is also approved to conduct SESIP evaluations.
