November 2021 Newsletter

Letter from GlobalPlatform’s Chair of the Board

On behalf of the Board, I am pleased to announce GlobalPlatform has appointed a new Executive Director, Ana Tavares Lattibeaudiere. As we look to the future of our industries and organization, Ana’s strategic IoT expertise and leadership skills will help us realize our vision to provide greater end-to-end security, privacy, simplicity and convenience for everyone. From next month, I will hand over the reins of the GlobalPlatform newsletter to Ana, who will continue bringing you our monthly updates.

A key initiative for GlobalPlatform is simplifying the secure management of IoT devices, which continue to expand and diversify. As part of this effort, GlobalPlatform has launched a free MUD File Service which is a building block for scalability of IoT, will help improve the security of connected things and of the networks they are connected to. I encourage members and their partners to take advantage of the service to help facilitate convenient and secure connectivity. You can learn more about MUD files below.

Finally, while we have all adapted well to our virtual ways of working, we are excited to be hosting our fall meetings in-person once again. Taking place November 15-19, the meetings provide members with an important opportunity to input to the strategic and technical priorities of our organization. We will also have the great opportunity to share with ENISA during a workshop only accessible to members. I look forward to reconnecting with many of you face-to-face. As a reminder, those unable to join the meetings in Athens can participate remotely.

GlobalPlatform welcomes Ana Tavares Lattibeaudiere as new Executive Director

Ana brings extensive IoT and telecommunications experience to our organization, with 20+ years of industry knowledge, non-profit strategy and business development through past roles at Accenture, BCG, Deloitte and most recently GSMA. As GlobalPlatform continues its work to bring trust to digital services and devices, Ana will be responsible for leading strategic and marketing activities that drive further awareness and adoption of our certification schemes and technologies across connected industries and new device types.

The news has been announced via a press release which you can read on the GlobalPlatform website. If you would like to contact Ana, please reach out to ana.lattibeaudiere@globalplatform.org

Using MUD files to simplify and secure IoT device network management

GlobalPlatform’s free MUD file service simplifies secure network onboarding and allows manufacturers to share the intent, capabilities and requirements of their devices.

It helps device manufacturers publish, in a unique location, the MUD file library associated with their products.

Simply upload MUD files to GlobalPlatform’s online service, and then receive a unique URL for your device to automate secure connectivity and support network managers in dealing with an increasingly diversified device ecosystem.
