Letter from GlobalPlatform’s Executive Director

As we head into the winter months, there is still plenty to come from GlobalPlatform before the end of the calendar year. This includes announcements on our specifications, insights, webinars and the upcoming Fall Meetings, to name but a few.

Next month, GlobalPlatform will host its second SESIP webinar which follows on from the first edition which took place in March and can be viewed here. In the upcoming webinar, Technical Director Gil Bernabeu and a panel of guest speakers will further explore the value of the methodology in enabling IoT device makers to develop secure, certified solutions.

We are excited to virtually host our member Fall Meetings from November 16-20. It will be good to connect with all of you again, to hear about the latest technical innovations and share the exciting upcoming work of our organization.

Save the date for SESIP webinar #2

Following on from the first SESIP webinar in March, GlobalPlatform Technical Director, Gil Bernabeu will present a second SESIP webinar alongside guests from STMicroelectronics, Trust CB, Brightsight, NXP, ETSI and Arm at 8:00 PST / 17:00 CET on December 2.

The webinar will explore how device manufacturers can use the SESIP methodology to simplify security evaluation to build trust in their IoT products.

Join our virtual Fall Meetings

There is still time to register for our all member Fall Meetings which take place virtually on November 16-20.

We look forward to virtually hosting the meetings which present an opportunity for our members to participate and provide input on GlobalPlatform’s working group, committee and task force priorities for the year ahead.

We look forward to some fantastic, collaborative discussions between members and are eager to delve more deeply into the many GlobalPlatform initiatives currently underway.

VPP white paper

The latest white paper released by GlobalPlatform explores how our Virtual Primary Platform (VPP) specification is supporting the secure evolution of integrated Secure Element (iSE) form factors.

VPP provides a universal form factor on which developers can host and execute secure digital services across different products and use cases.

Specifications Under Review

A new version of the GP card specification amendment I (SEMS) which provides better support for ELF upgrades, introduces new parameters for additional control of authorized operations and provides several clarifications.

This has been made available to solicit comments from the membership of GlobalPlatform. Please provide your comments by Monday, 16 November 2020.
