Letter from GlobalPlatform’s Executive Director

February saw GlobalPlatform publish a strategic update to give the industry insight into the organization’s new initiatives and Board that are making our 20^th year one of our most significant as we work to provide greater security, privacy, simplicity and convenience for users.

GlobalPlatform unfortunately had to postpone its SE IoT workshop in Nuremberg due to circumstances caused by Coronavirus. We will be rescheduling the workshop so stay tuned for further updates!

Looking to the month ahead we will be hosting our Spring Meetings in Austin, Texas on March 30-April 03. The meetings offer a great time to reflect on a range of GlobalPlatform initiatives, as well as a look to what’s in store for the year ahead.

Board Member Election Announcement for 2020

Last month, we announced the results of the GlobalPlatform Board of Directors election. Five seats were open and the following candidates have each been re-elected to serve another two-year term:

Rob Coombs – Arm
Stéphanie El Rhomri – FIME
Rémi de Fouchier – Gemalto, a Thales company
Sebastian Hans – Oracle
Olivier Van Nieuwenhuyze – STMicroelectronics.

Rob Coombs returns as Vice Chairman and Stephanie El Rhomri continues in her role as the organization’s Treasurer and Secretary. Nils Gerhardt from G+D Mobile Security continues in his role as Board Chairman.

GlobalPlatform Technology Secure Element Protection Profile v0.0.0.21 (Target v1.0)

This document aims to list the security functions that should be considered during the evaluation of a Secure Element product based on the GlobalPlatform card specification.

This has been made available to solicit public comments. Please provide comments by Thursday, 5 March 2020.

SE Abstract Communication Layer Over TCP/IP v0.2

The SE Abstract Communication Layer Over TCP/IP will define a socket API to send commands and receive responses from a device hosting a Secure Element. The project will allow execution of GlobalPlatform compliance tests on these new secure elements.

A pre-release version of SE Abstract Communication Layer Over TCP/IP v0.2 is now available to download from the GlobalPlatform public review page.

This document has been made available to solicit comments from the public. Please provide your comments to the open source by using the GitHub Issues system by Monday, 16 March 2020.
