A Letter From GlobalPlatform's Executive Director, Kevin Gillick

It has been another busy month at GlobalPlatform, and I am happy to share several pieces of exciting news with you. First, we have launched updated language to more accurately describe the value proposition of GlobalPlatform and its technology.  The new value messaging reflects evolving market requirements and our position as the standard for secure digital services and devices.

We have also announced that the 5th annual TEE Seminar will take place in Beijing this year and separately, as part of our Developers Initiative, we launched the Developers’ Secure Element Mobile Services Kit. GlobalPlatform launches new mission statement

GlobalPlatform’s mission statement and other messaging, including organizational objectives, guiding principles, vision and tagline, have been updated to reflect its role in the industry and position the organization for the future. You will start to see the new value messaging integrated into our publications, presentations, communications and the public website over the coming weeks.

The GlobalPlatform team is also working on a new visual design and public web site. If you have any questions or comments please email secretariat@globalplatform .org.

5th Annual TEE Seminar

We are pleased to announce that this year’s seminar will take place on 12 September at the Sheraton Grand Beijing Dongcheng Hotel in Beijing, China!

Our members and sponsors are excited to build on the success of the 4th Annual Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) Seminar in 2016. GlobalPlatform for Developers: Secure Element Mobile Services Kit

GlobalPlatform has launched its Secure Element Mobile Services Kit to support rapid and widespread growth of secure Android mobile services. The GlobalPlatform for Developers: Secure Element Mobile Services Kit provides application developers with all the tools they need to create a secure mobile application utilizing a secure element (SE). The kit requires only a NFC-enabled smartphone and computer to compile and run the applications.

New documents available for member review

The below documents are currently available for member review:

  • GlobalPlat form Device Technology Device API Access Control v0.5.0.2. This document enables the standardized control of sensitive APIs in a mobile device operating system, based on access rules stored in a Secure Element. This document is derived from the GP SEAC specification and defines an ARA-D and ARF-D which are similar to the ARA and ARF definitions in the GP SEAC.Please provide your comments by completing the comment form online by Friday, 9 June and sending to: device_api_ac@globalplat form.org

June will be a busy month for our Technical Director, Gil Bernabeu.

Check out where you can catch him discussing TEE, automotive security and IoT:

  • ETSI Security Week (12-16 June, Sophia Antipolis). Gil is delivering a presentation and partaking in a panel within the session ‘Measuring and Assessing ICT Security’, on Monday 12 June at 2pm. Gil’s presentation is entitled ‘Supporting the Development of a Global TEE Certification Program’.
  • Internet of Things World Europe (13-15 June, London). Gil will join a panel to discuss ‘Driving Consumer Adoption through Seamless Integration across markets and interfaces’, at on Thursday 15 June, 12:50pm.
  • GSMA Mobile World Shanghai (28 June – 1 July). Gil is delivering a presentation on ‘Meeting Security & Privacy Requirements of the Connected Car’, will take place on Friday 30 June, within the session scheduled 4:00pm - 5:00pm.
