I hope you are having an enjoyable summer season.
We just completed our Technical Week in La Ciotat, France, where we reviewed ongoing technical work and laid out the technical roadmap for the upcoming year. This was a great opportunity for the GlobalPlatform committees and working groups to come together to share expertise and set priorities. We also used this opportunity to review the results of our latest member survey, discuss relevant industry and regulatory developments, and explore new opportunities for collaboration.
eID Wallet News
On June 25, we announced new technologies to help EU Member States and smartphone vendors seamlessly implement the Europe wide eID Wallet Scheme. We will discuss this work, as well as new developments in this space and the future of wallet certification in our upcoming eID Wallet Seminar, which will take place on October 10 in Brussels, Belgium. We will start the week with a two-day Secure Element for Mobile eID Training on October 8–9. Plan to join us in Brussels. Members can access a free registration code in the member workspace.
SBOM Sub-Task Force
Within the Security Task Force, the Software Bill of Materials (SBOM) Sub-Task Force, chaired by Laurent Sustek, is now up and running. Laurent has laid out the current roadmap and we encourage our members to join the discussion. Initial priorities are the completion of a whitepaper and expanding scope to identify requirements for GlobalPlatform’s SBOM.
SESIP Updates
Earlier in June, we announced several initiatives to support the adoption of SESIP across the IoT ecosystem. These include the launch of new certification stamps, expanding the number of labs and certification bodies (CB), new partnerships, and the creation of an adopter program.
Additionally, the SESIP Profile for Secure External Memories is now open for public review—SESIP Profile for Secure External Memories v1.0.0.3—and the SESIP Governance documentation is open for member review within the member workspace.
Automotive Task Force Developments
To better align with member activities taking place in Japan in late October, we have adjusted our Cybersecurity Vehicle Forum plans. We will now hold an automotive roundtable discussion in Tokyo on October 24, alongside a meeting of the Japan Task Force and a SIDI Hub event on October 25. Please contact Francesca Forestieri if you would like to be included.
The fall Cybersecurity Vehicle Forum will take place in Germany - full details will be confirmed soon.
Board Nominations
Nominations for open board of director seats will begin on August 1. The nomination period will be open for 30 days and all Full Member companies in good standing will be able to nominate a candidate from within their company for consideration by the voting members. Refer to the recent email from the GlobalPlatform Secretariat for full details.
Have a great summer, and I look forward to seeing you at our fall meetings and events.
Best regards,
Ana Tavares Lattibeaudiere
