Letter from GlobalPlatform’s Executive Director

This month, we’re excited to announce a very strong agenda for our annual seminar ‘Security in our Connected World’, taking place on 19 September at the Sheraton Grand Beijing Doncheng Hotel. The seminar will take place from 9am to 5.30pm, followed by an evening cocktail reception.

You can view the online agenda here. As a reminder, GlobalPlatform members can send three employees to the seminar for free, and pay a small entry fee for additional employees. The ballroom will fill up quickly so register now to avoid disappointment!

We would also like to thank everyone who participated in our recent SWOT analysis! Your responses will be most helpful to the Board of Directors during our annual Strategy Meeting this August. For participating in the SWOT exercise, we are pleased to announce Hector Bravo of Giesecke + Devrient as the winner of the $100 USD Amazon Gift Card. Congratulations to our winner and thank you all for your on-going support of GlobalPlatform!

Did you miss? GlobalPlatform’s new paper 'Deploying and Protecting Digital Services with Chains of Trust'

This is a new business paper, created by GlobalPlatform’s Security Task Force, explains the importance of designing devices and services with security at the core, as well as how to achieve security, privacy and integrity with GlobalPlatform secure components. The publication also defines Root of Trust (RoT) and Chains of Trust, and discusses how device manufacturers can create a secure Chains of Trust with GlobalPlatform as a foundation.

GlobalPlatform welcomes Baidu as a full member, and Truphone as an Observer member

Baidu, Inc. is a Chinese multinational technology company specializing in internet-related services and products. Truphone is a global mobile network that provides business mobile plans, global mobile recording, IoT solutions and international SIM cards.

Partner content: Car Connectivity Consortium Announces Publication of Digital Key Specification

The Digital Key Release 1.0 specification outlines a standardized solution to enable drivers to download digital car keys onto their smart devices. We are pleased to have a close and collaborative relationship with the Car Connectivity Consortium, and welcome the release of this specification, which delivers a first step towards fully interoperable digital car key solutions using GlobalPlatform secure components.

GlobalPlatform training calendar and in-house training sessions

In response to the growing demand for GlobalPlatform SE and TEE specification training in Asia, we are pleased to announce the upcoming sessions:

  • Tokyo, 15-16 August – a 2 day hybrid SE and IoT platform security training session.
  • Seoul, 12-14 September – a 2-day SE training session followed by a 1-day SE mobile contactless session.
  • Beijing 17-18 September – a technical training session covering our TEE specifications, taking place before our annual seminar.

In addition to these sessions, we have refreshed our training calendar for 2018 with expert-led training sessions covering the fundamentals of TEE and SE, as well as specialized sessions for Payment / Mobile Contactless, Mobile Identity / Government and IoT Platform Security.

And don’t forget, we can bring the training directly to your company with our ‘onsite’ service.  Contact the Secretariat to learn more about onsite training at your location!

This specification defines a set of C APIs for the development of Trusted Applications (TAs) running inside a Trusted Execution Environment (TEE).
