GlobalPlatform News – Digital Identity Seminar, SESIP Trainings and our new TechTalks

Letter from GlobalPlatform’s Executive Director

2024 promises to be another busy and exciting year of innovation for GlobalPlatform.

Preparations are well underway for our Spring Meetings, taking place March 25-28 in Las Vegas, USA. The meetings will coincide with a Digital Identity Seminar that we are holding on March 27 to promote the importance of high security and certification in the deployment of digital identity and eID wallets. We’re also hosting an open meeting of our Security Task Force and an invitation-only SESIP Workshop, on March 26. Read more and register below.

We have also launched our new TechTalks webinar series, in which GlobalPlatform experts share their insights on the latest evolutions and innovations in device security. Over 270 people attended our first TechTalk in which Beatrice Peirani-Mercelot, Chair of GlobalPlatform's Crypto Sub-Task Force, and David Vigilant, Cryptography Engineering Manager in Thales DIS Cybersecurity department, shared their perspectives and expertise on Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC).

PQC will remain in focus for our next TechTalk as we hear from PQShield. More details on how to register will be shared soon. We invite members to submit their ideas for future TechTalks - if there is a topic that you’d like to present or discuss please contact secretariat@globalplatform.org

Our knowledge sharing doesn’t end there. We will soon announce the dates for our Security Evaluation Standard for IoT Platforms (SESIP) training program. As the SESIP methodology becomes increasingly central to the future of IoT security, this training will help attendees to improve their understanding of the SESIP methodology. If you have interest in joining, please email our secretariat.

Finally, GlobalPlatform is sponsoring this year’s EU Cybersecurity Act Conference. Taking place in Brussels, Belgium from March 11-13, the event is helping the device security ecosystem prepare for a new and independent European body of cybersecurity regulation. Olivier Van Nieuwenhuyze, Security Task Force Chair, and Carlos Serratos, SESIP Ecosystem Adoption Working Group Chair, will be speaking on behalf of GlobalPlatform at the event. As a reminder, members can redeem discounts on conferences that GlobalPlatform is supporting. The events and discount codes are available in Workspace here.

Register for our Digital Identity Seminar

Registrations are now open for our upcoming Digital Identity Seminar. Co-located with our Spring Meetings, the seminar will take place on March 27 from 9:00 to 17:00 PDT in Las Vegas, USA.

The seminar will focus on eID deployments in North America, demonstrating the different ways of achieving a high level of security using secure elements and the many business models it can support, including for embedded secure elements and Secure Application on Mobile (SAM). Attendees will also learn about the added benefits of certification and how to use SESIP to simplify the security evaluation of wallets.

Thank you to our seminar sponsor Thales for supporting the event. If your company is interested in becoming a seminar sponsor, please contact me: ana.lattibeaudiere@globalplatform.org

Specifications Under Review

This annex specifies the TEE_iSocket interface for the Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol. 63 Implementation of TLS protocol support within the TEE is optional. If the TLS protocol is implemented, the 64 implementation shall reside wholly within the TEE because it alters the security level of the information 65 passing over the socket.

This has been made available for public review. Please provide your comments by completing the comment form by March 3, 2024, or emailing amend-m-review@globalplatform.org
