GlobalPlatform to Host Training Sessions in Hong Kong

05 February 2014 – GlobalPlatform, the association which standardizes the management of applications on secure chip technology, has launched its first training sessions of 2014, due to take place at the Eaton Hotel, 380 Nathan Road, Kowloon, Hong Kong from 3-5 March. The technical two-day card specification training and one-day contactless training are designed to improve industry knowledge of GlobalPlatform Card Specifications, their capabilities and functions.

Delegates attending the two-day technical card specification training, scheduled for 3-4 March will receive an explanation of GlobalPlatform’s core offering, including details on secure channels, security domains and application programming interfaces. The industry body’s one-day session on 5 March, titled GlobalPlatform for Contactless, focuses on the role of GlobalPlatform Specifications in relation to contactless-enabled services on mobile platforms. This workshop is an extension of the introductory card specification training program, and it is highly recommended that students interested in attending the contactless session first register to join the card specification event.

Kevin Gillick, Executive Director of GlobalPlatform, comments: “In response to market demand from Asian technology and application providers, and following continued membership growth in the region, GlobalPlatform took the decision to bring its training to Hong Kong. The card specification session will shed light on GlobalPlatform definitions and provide delegates with further information on our role and responsibilities, explaining how GlobalPlatform technology can support recognized business models. The mobile-focused session addresses the needs of the stakeholders engaged in the deployment of contactless-enabled services on mobile platforms that are increasingly adopting GlobalPlatform Specifications. Key topics that will be covered include how GlobalPlatform technology supports the mobile wallet, trusted service manager messaging and secure element management.”

GlobalPlatform’s Card Specification Training session is open to both members and non-members at a fee of US $1,595 and US $2,195 respectively. Organizations sending two students will receive a discount of US $200 per student and organizations sending three or more students will receive a discount of US $350 per student.
