GlobalPlatform Announces New Board of Directors and Board Officers For FY 2007
28 November, 2006 - GlobalPlatform, the international smart card standards body, has named its new Board of Directors for FY 2007, following annual elections for six of the eleven Board seats. The organization has also confirmed the GlobalPlatform Board Officers for the same period.
Bob Beer from Datacard Group retains his position as Chairman of the organization for the third consecutive year. He will be supported by Marc Kekicheff from Visa International who retains the role of GlobalPlatform's Vice Chair for a second term. Didier Begay from France Telecom becomes the newest Board Officer, assuming the role of GlobalPlatform Treasurer.
The six Board seats, which were open for re-election by GlobalPlatform's Full Members, have been filled by the following individuals, each of whom will serve a two year term:
- ActivIdentity - Robert Brandewie
- France Telecom - Didier Begay
- Giesecke & Devrient - Andreas Strobel
- JCB Co. Ltd - Toshiaki Kuzuki
- NTT Corporation - Eikazu Niwano
- Visa International - Marc Kekicheff
Additionally, Carmen Carnero-Silvo from SERMEPA has been re-elected to the Board of Directors to fill the remaining Board seat recently vacated by Hitachi due to the retirement of a key executive. She will serve a one-year term.
