FNMT-RCM Joins GlobalPlatform
05 November 2008 – Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre - Real Casa de la Moneda (FNMT-RCM), a public business entity under the umbrella of Spain’s Ministry of Economy and Treasury, has become a member of the international smart card specification body, GlobalPlatform. The move demonstrates the company’s commitment to remain at the cutting edge of smart card technology innovation and its support for establishing an interoperable and sustainable smart card infrastructure.
FNMT-RCM manufactures a range of high security documents and smart card products for banking, identity, loyalty, transport and access control applications in both the public and private sectors. Joining as an Observer Member, the company will be able to participate in GlobalPlatform’s Task Forces and Advisory Council, providing it with opportunities to influence the direction of GlobalPlatform initiatives. In addition, it will be able to closely monitor the discussions and output of all GlobalPlatform technical committees and network with the smart card business and technical community to discuss the latest industry issues and trends.
