Functional Certification
For SE and TEE products
The GlobalPlatform Functional Certification scheme allows companies to measure and assess compliance, functional behavior and interoperability among products that support GlobalPlatform specifications. Companies that complete certification may display the GlobalPlatform Functional Certified logo to demonstrate to customers and partners that they have created a high-quality secure implementation of GlobalPlatform standards with guaranteed market interoperability.
GlobalPlatform Certification Body oversees product certification, as well as labs and test tools accreditation. Independent testing provides confirmation that a digital service will perform as intended in the field on any certified product, regardless of the product provider. The GlobalPlatform Functional Certification scheme is referenced by EMVCo, GSMA and other industry bodies, with testing performed on certified tools provided by GlobalPlatform-approved laboratories globally.
Who should participate?
- Secure component manufacturers – demonstrate that your products are working effectively and align with the functional requirements of the marketplace.
- Device manufacturers – confirm that your digital service management capabilities are interoperable and meet industry-defined requirements.
- Standardization bodies and issuers – request GlobalPlatform functional certificates in your certification programs and take advantage of an off-the-shelf product or component created by certified and accredited test laboratories.
- Test / evaluation laboratories – become GlobalPlatform-licensed to generate new revenue.
- Test tool suppliers – offer highly valuable SE and TEE functional test tools to manufacturers, issuers and laboratories.

Certify a Product
To achieve GlobalPlatform functional certification, a product must be submitted to a GlobalPlatform-accredited laboratory and competently pass several tests to meet the functional evaluation testing criteria.
The laboratory sends its test report to the GlobalPlatform Certification Body for evaluation and issuance of the certificate.
Products that successfully complete certification receive a GlobalPlatform certificate that assures service providers and device makers they are selecting a product which matches their needs.

Become a Licensed Lab or Test Tool
For test tool providers or test laboratories to achieve the GlobalPlatform qualification status to provide functional SE and TEE certifications, your organization must be a GlobalPlatform full or participating member in good standing.
Test tool providers must also commit to and participate in the TestFest process: a series of meetings that bring together GlobalPlatform member organizations to establish relationships and undertake tests between secure components and test tools in a variety of multi-vendor and multi-tool combinations.
