Pavona is an open-source silicon distribution that delivers production-quality, certification-ready IP components and reference designs for building secure-by-default silicon systems.
In 2025, GlobalPlatform established the Trusted Open Source Silicon Task Force to create a secure, standards-based foundation for open-source silicon development. This Task Force achieved its core objectives—defining the governance, legal framework, and development model required to support a trusted ecosystem.
As a result, the Pavona project officially launched in May 2026, marking a major milestone in advancing secure, production-ready silicon.
Hosted by GlobalPlatform, Pavona operates under a robust governance model. A Governing Board of contributing members funds and supports the project, while an independent Technical Steering Committee is solely responsible for the technical roadmap and oversight.
Pavona membership is available across multiple tiers designed to support participation from organizations of different sizes and levels of engagement. Preferential pricing is available to existing GlobalPlatform members:
