Letter from GlobalPlatform’s Executive Director

Dear GlobalPlatform Members,

As we move into September, there are several important updates to share with you. Members will have now received 2026 membership renewal invoices along with the GlobalPlatform Annual Report, which highlights our achievements and future direction. Thank you for your continued support and for being part of our community. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me or the Secretariat at secretariat@globalplatform.org.

Last week, we announced that Stellantis has joined GlobalPlatform to advance global automotive cybersecurity standards. As a result, Bill Mazzara, North American Regulatory Lead and Technical Fellow for Product Cybersecurity at Stellantis, will now be co-chairing the Automotive Task Force alongside Richard Hayton. We are looking forward to collaborating with Stellantis as we develop standardized approaches to meeting the complex cybersecurity demands of today’s SDVs.

Additionally, we have just finalized the formation of a new task force – the Trusted Open Source Silicon Task Force. The purpose of this task force is to build a widely available, permissively licensed open-source silicon platform that is both commercially viable and community-driven, to make it easier and faster for the whole ecosystem to adopt strong security standards and to increase confidence in secure hardware implementations. It will be chaired by Dominic Rizzo from zeroRISC and vice-chaired by Barna Ibrahim from Rivos. You can now join the Task Force in workspace and be on the lookout for the kick off call. You can also learn more about it on our next Tech Talk on September 26th .
