Digital Wallet Seminar

The EU mandated the deployment of a EUDI wallet as part of the eIDAS 2.0 regulation, giving a clear step towards the introduction of a cross-border interoperable digital identity scheme for all citizens across EU member states starting on 2026. We have also seen an acceleration in the deployment of mobile drivers licenses. At the core of these initiatives is high security, so that citizens and businesses can access public and private services across member states and other countries in the future with trust and privacy assurances.

The development of a strong identity scheme brings opportunities for enhanced digital services and innovation in mobile digital wallets. The large scale pilots that were deployed have developed learnings in many different use cases across industries and have showed that the mobile digital wallet becomes the central pillar for interoperability and support to digital identity, payments and currencies.

For over 20 years GlobalPlatform technologies have been supporting the Identity, payments and Government ecosystems bringing security to identity cards, ePassports banking cards mobile wallets, etc. GlobalPlatform also continues to optimize its secure element specifications and developing new technologies to support the emerging use cases and innovation in this space and also the deployment of EUDI – e.g. Secure Application on Mobile, Cryptographic Service Provider.

Following two very successful events in 2023 and 2024, GlobalPlatform is bringing the third edition of this Seminar to Brussels on 16^th October 2025. To reflect the broader scope of wallets supporting identity, payments and digital currencies, we will also be broadening the scope of this seminar from eID wallets to mobile digital wallets.
