30 November 2011 – GlobalPlatform, the organization which standardizes the management of applications on secure chip technology, has announced its Board of Directors for fiscal year 2011-12*, following annual elections for five of the eleven Board seats. Individual members to serve as Board Officers for a one-year team have also been confirmed.

Marc Kekicheff, Senior Business Leader of Chip Innovation within the Technology Office at Visa Inc. retains his position as Chairman of the organization for the second year. Uwe Wittig, Group Vice-President within the Payment Division of the Cards and Services Business Unit at Giesecke & Devrient also continues as Vice-Chair. For the fifth consecutive year Yves Moulart, Director of Development and Innovation within STMicroelectronics' Secure MCUs Division, Secure Software Solutions will serve as GlobalPlatform's Secretary / Treasurer.

Five Board seats were open for election. In addition to Yves Moulart each of the following individuals were elected to serve a two year term:

Marc Kekicheff comments: "GlobalPlatform continues to grow in both membership and influence. Since the beginning of October, six new members have joined the organization, bringing the total membership to 77. I'm also pleased to report that member interest and engagement has never been so high, demonstrated by levels of participation in GlobalPlatform Task Forces and Technical Committees.

"GlobalPlatform's growth has also enabled us to diversify our standardization work," adds Kekicheff. "We recently announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the SD Association in order to align standards across the secure media ecosystem. Additionally, a new liaison partnership with the International Organization for Standardization Technical Committee 204 will work to define technical standards to enable transit operators to launch public transport applications on new and emerging multiple application media.

"Continuing to enhance its compliance programs will also be important for GlobalPlatform." Kekicheff concludes: "As the secure chip marketplace evolves, industry stability will only be achieved by establishing suitable standards and specifications. GlobalPlatform will continue to work with its members in 2012 to test, verify and maintain a neutral and secure infrastructure that will instill confidence across all stakeholders involved in developing, and managing, secure application technology."
