Samsung Research America Announced as Keynote Speaker at GlobalPlatform’s TEE Conference
30 July 2014 - Standardization body, GlobalPlatform, has announced that Dr. Peng Ning, Vice President Enterprise Security, Samsung Research America will deliver the keynote address at its second annual trusted execution environment (TEE) Conference, which takes place on Tuesday 30 September in Santa Clara, California.
Dr. Peng Ning will speak alongside other distinguished representatives from both the secure mobile services and connected devices markets at the ‘GlobalPlatform Presents the TEE: Next Generation Mobile Security for Today and Tomorrow’ conference. The presentation will address the growing importance of trustworthy mobile platforms as smartphones and tablets become increasingly vital in consumers' daily lives. Speakers and panelists will share their views on how the innovative TEE industry will evolve in the future to address the key trends impacting connected devices such as smartphones, tablets, set-top boxes and televisions. The conference will also showcase the vast opportunities presented by the TEE – a secure area that resides in the main processor of a connected device and ensures that sensitive data is stored, processed and protected in a trusted environment – for the deployment of trusted applications in open environments.
This exclusively-focused conference on TEE technology will be of interest to software vendors, device manufacturers, platform providers, mobile network operators and service providers including financial institutions, remote content distributors and companies working to develop enterprise solutions.
“GlobalPlatform held its first TEE Conference in 2013 in response to industry demand for a dedicated, comprehensive event focusing on the advancing TEE landscape,” comments Kevin Gillick, Executive Director, GlobalPlatform. “In addition to explaining how the TEE complements the functionality and security of the secure element and rich operating systems, the conference will showcase the work GlobalPlatform is undertaking to standardize the technology and create an evaluation program that qualifies the functionality of a given TEE implementation.”
One of the key takeaways for delegates is to understand the value the TEE brings to different vertical markets. The three market-focused sessions will address:
- Content protection. Demonstrating why the TEE is an ideal environment for protecting premium content (for example HD films) on connected devices and what this means for the future of entertainment.
- Mobile device and remote TEE management. Addressing the remote installation of trusted applications and how they can improve the functionality and security of mobile device management solutions.
- Identity, authentication and payments. Showcasing how TEEs can solve problems associated with identity theft, phishing and malware.
“Mobile devices are increasingly becoming the entry point to digital life for consumers and enterprise users,” concludes Kevin. “The richness and connectivity of today’s smart devices, however, bring new challenges such as how to protect valuable content, manage secure data and control access rights. This event will analyze how the TEE can address these requirements, as well as provide delegates with unique information on future business opportunities and provide a platform to offer input into long-term market evolutions.”
The one-day conference is open to both GlobalPlatform members and non-members. GlobalPlatform members are entitled to three complimentary delegate passes per company, with any additional registrations available for US $99 per person. An early bird rate of US $249 is available for non-members until 15 August 2014. After this date, the non-member delegate rate is US $299.
