GlobalPlatform Welcomes Beijing Unionpay Card Technology Co., Ltd. as New Member
27 February 2014 - Beijing Unionpay Card Technology Co. Ltd (BCTC), an independent card testing service provider, has joined GlobalPlatform as a Participating Member. The company specializes in smartcard-related testing, serving industry stakeholders and the global payment market.
BCTC will make participation in the GlobalPlatform compliance program a priority, in order to work towards becoming a recognized GlobalPlatform testing laboratory. The program - through its approved laboratories, qualified test tools and established testing infrastructure - standardizes the management of applications on secure chip technology and seeks to ensure the advancement and maintenance of an interoperable, sustainable and trusted end-to-end environment for managing applications on secure chip technology.
As a Participating Member, BCTC will have representation in GlobalPlatform’s Card Committee and will also contribute to all aspects of GlobalPlatform’s market specific task forces. The aim of the Card Committee is to define industry and technology-neutral specifications for the secure, interoperable deployment and management of multiple embedded applications on secure chip technology.
Mr. Guifu Fan, General Manager at BCTC, comments: “Our main focus as a member of GlobalPlatform will be mobile payments and secure element (SE) technology. We will work towards aligning our testing systems with GlobalPlatform requirements in order to become an approved GlobalPlatform testing laboratory. We hope that by participating in the task forces and Card Committee we can contribute to the further improvement of technology to benefit the global payment industry.”

GlobalPlatform currently has established compliance programs which address the UICC Configuration, Basic Financial Configuration and Trusted Execution Environment Specifications. GlobalPlatform is currently working to offer a compliance program for its SE Configuration for smart microSDs and embedded SEs. It is also advancing test tools for GlobalPlatform's ID Configuration and SE Access Control Configuration.
