Call For Papers Opens For GlobalPlatform TEE Conferences 2015

Industry body to host events in Shanghai, China, and Santa Clara, US, following growing regional interest in TEE technology

29 January 2015 GlobalPlatform, the association which standardizes the management of applications on secure chip technology, has launched its call for papers for the market’s only dedicated trusted execution environment (TEE) conferences. The association will host its long-standing global event in Santa Clara, California on 12-13 October, as well as an inaugural regional gathering in Shanghai, China in June / July (exact date TBC), to meet local market demand.

The association is accepting speaker proposals from members and non-members which focus on: TEE deployment use cases, customer experiences, existing and future service deployments, TEE for mobile security and security evaluation / certification use cases. A brief title and synopsis should be sent to seminar-topics@globalplatform.org by Friday, 13 February 2015.

‘GlobalPlatform Presents the TEE: Next Generation Mobile Security for Today and Tomorrow’  conferences will be of interest to service and platform providers, software vendors, device manufacturers and mobile network operators. The events will showcase state-of-the-art device security and demonstrate how the threat landscape for connected devices is rapidly evolving.

Kevin Gillick, Executive Director of GlobalPlatform, comments: “Interest continues to grow in the TEE, which is a secure area that resides in the main processor of a connected device and ensures that sensitive data is stored, processed and protected in a secure environment. The robust security and high level of functionality appeals to service providers wanting to use this technology to deliver services such as premium content and mobile wallets, as well as enterprises and governments supporting bring your own device (BYOD) initiatives. Our events offer a unique platform to bring together TEE stakeholders to discuss the future of this marketplace, technical functionality advancements and how commercial efficiencies can be achieved through standardization.”

GlobalPlatform is bringing its TEE event to Asia for the first time to address the growing prominence of the technology in the region. In addition to this, Kevin highlights that the industry association has seen increased membership from Asian-based companies over the last year. He adds: “Many of our Asian members have a specific interest in the activities of our Device Committee, which aims to define an open security architecture for consumer and connected devices based on TEE technology. As such, we felt that now was the right time to develop a regionally focused TEE event that would address the specific opportunities and challenges within this marketplace.”

Each agenda will also be tailored to reflect the current TEE landscape in Asia and the US respectively and will highlight successful deployments and use cases from each region.
