Marc Kekicheff

Marc currently serves as Senior Business Leader of Chip Innovation at Visa Inc. and is responsible for its smart card technology compliance globally, covering cards and terminals as well as mobile handsets. A highly regarded smart card expert, worldwide, Marc has authored several patents, is well acquainted with IT security and frequently addresses the industry through high profile speaking engagements. Throughout his career he has been a driving force in the development of global smart card technology, worldwide standards and compliance programs. He currently sits on the EMVCo Board of Managers and chairs the EMV Next Generation Task Force for the same organization.

Marc has been an active member of GlobalPlatform since its inception in 1999 and was a co-architect of the original GlobalPlatform Specifications. Since that time he has held a number of posts: he was GlobalPlatform’s Technical Director between 1999 and 2005, when he stepped down from this role and was elected to the Board of Directors and as Vice President of the organization. He then served as Chairman from 2010 until 2018. Marc has made a significant contribution to GlobalPlatform over the years and has been responsible for the following initiatives, among many others: launching and chairing the Mobile Task Force from 2007 until 2012; shaping consortium strategy; initiating industry outreach efforts; obtaining ISO recognition for GlobalPlatform by acting as a technical expert liaison for smart card standardization; and providing technical support for implementers of GlobalPlatform technology.

Nils Gerhardt

Nils is GlobalPlatform's Chairman and also serves as Co-Chair of the IoT Task Force. Nils joined Giesecke & Devrient MS (G+D MS) in 2004, and as Group VP and head of product and project management, production IT and professional services for the region AMERICAS, has global product responsibility for financial institutions. Within this role he oversees product and project management, including product marketing and certification.

Nils joined the GlobalPlatform Board of Directors in 2015 and also serves as Co-Chair of the IoT Task Force.

Jeremy O'Donoghue

Jeremy currently serves as Director, Engineering at Qualcomm, working within the Secure Systems Group. He is responsible for architecture and development of software focused around secure platforms and NFC. In previous roles at Qualcomm, he was the lead security architect and software lead for an NFC CLF development, and has worked extensively on telephony aspects of both Android and Windows-based mobile systems. Jeremy was also an early participant in developing the GSMA NFC Handset Requirements and Testbook.

Jeremy joined the GlobalPlatform Board of Directors in 2016, and is Vice Chair of the TES Committee.

Eikazu Niwano

Eikazu currently serves as NTT Research Professor, Secure Platform Laboratories at NTT Corporation.

Since joining NTT, Eikazu has undertaken research on distributed system architecture including smart cards at NTT laboratories. He was also the general manager of the Europe Office of the Information Sharing Laboratory Group, where he was involved in a number of European / international standardization activities.

He is additionally a NICSS (Next Generation IC Card System Study group) Fellow, sits on the Board of Directors and is the former Chair of the GlobalPlatform- NICSS Collaboration Expert Group, and serves as Chair of the SCP10 Task Force.

Eikazu has served on the GlobalPlatform Board of Directors since 2005 and is the current Chair of the GlobalPlatform Japan Task Force.

Mark Lipford

T-Mobile USA

Mark serves as the Director Global Standards and Ecosystem Development within T-Mobile USA, and has over 30 years of experience in the telecommunications and wireless industries. Mark is responsible for working with T-Mobile USA’s Technology Development, Corporate Strategy, Product Development and Network Development teams to define strategy and direction. Additionally, he is responsible for representing T-Mobile USA's strategies and requirements into industry organizations and in building strategic relationships to help drive technology ecosystems supporting these initiatives. Mark currently serves on the Board of the Small Cell Forum, the GSMA North American CTO group, the GSMA PSMC committee, and as Vice Chair of TIA TR45. He has previously held positions as Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) Technical Plenary Vice Chair, OMA Broadcast working group Vice Chair, and as a member of the OMA Board. He has also served on the WiMAX Board and held leadership positions in 3GPP2.

Prior to his work in global standards, Mark held positions in Product Development, Technology Planning, Network Engineering, and Network operations for both Sprint and BellSouth.

Mark joined the GlobalPlatform Board of Directors in 2016.

Rémi de Fouchier

Rémi joined Gemalto, a Thales Company, in 2004 and currently serves as Senior Vice President, Strategy and Marketing for the company’s business Segments. In this role, he leads the development and deployment of key global marketing initiatives and campaigns, supporting business growth and strategy execution across a wide range of products, solutions and services.

This applies to an expanding range of ecosystem members such as mobile network operators, banking and payment players, government, consumer and industrial OEMs. Gemalto’s broad range of offers incorporates embedded software and products for consumer devices, machine-to-machine, automotive, automated border control, as well as platforms and services such as mobile payment, ID enrolment and verification or on-demand subscription management.

Prior to this role Rémi was in charge of the Mobile Payment Business Unit, where he led the development of the company's mobile contactless initiatives. He has also worked as Gemalto Chief Procurement Officer.

Rémi joined the GlobalPlatform Board of Directors in 2010.

Rob Coombs

Arm

Rob has worked at Arm for 20 years and is currently Director, Architecture Technology Group working in the security ecosystem team.  He has previously led the mobile and segment marketing functions at Arm and was part of the original management team of the open source engineering organization called Linaro.  His current focus is IoT and helping the electronics industry improve the security of connected devices through a framework called PSA Certified.

Rob has been a Board member since 2014.

Christophe Colas

Christophe is currently SVP, Licensing & Corporate Projects at Trustonic. In this role, he is responsible for managing the overall portfolio of Trustonic products focused particularly around application protection. Christophe has participated in the development of several software architectures including Visa Open Platform Terminal Framework which has since transferred to GlobalPlatform.

Christophe has been involved with GlobalPlatform since its inception, and was elected to serve as the association's Device (now TEE) Committee Chair in 2009. He has also served as a GlobalPlatform Board Director since 2015.

Stéphanie El Rhomri

Stéphanie El Rhomri is Vice-President Europe Africa at Fime, responsible of defining and implementing Fime’s strategy and growth in the region.

Stéphanie brings a wealth of industry experience, particularly in the payment sector to which she has contributed for 15 years. Until last year she lead the delivery of testing services across 10 accredited laboratories around the world. In Fime she drove multiple transformational initiatives, such as financial and operational IS improvement, restructuring plan to increase the profitability, expanding Fime’s portfolio with biometrics and digital currency.

Stéphanie is a subject matter expert in testing and certification, and she actively contributed to industry standards and certification schemes. She has served on the GlobalPlatform Board since 2015 and was appointed Chair in 2021. Stéphanie holds a Master’s Degree in electronics and computer sciences from ENSEIRB engineering school Bordeaux and an advanced certificate in corporate governance from ESSEC Business School Paris.

Gil Bernabeu

In his role as Chief Technology Officer, Gil is responsible for defining and implementing the technical roadmap for the organization and provides counsel and guidance to the GlobalPlatform Board. He drives forward the development of GlobalPlatform’s specifications and certifications to allow markets and geographies to deploy and manage secure, value-added services. Gil also acts as GlobalPlatform’s central technical liaison point, coordinating the efforts of the technical committees, market task forces and liaisons with industry partners.

In his role at Thales, Gil supports the evolution of the Digital Identity and Security roadmap by enabling open innovation and securing participation in funded innovation projects.

In his previous roles as a near field communication (NFC) specialist, he has overseen the production of proof-of-concept demonstrations for NFC enabling wireless technologies, provided technical management for the first ever implementation featuring two types of payment cards loaded in one secure element, crafted the market entry strategy for a Fortune 50 telecommunications firm to launch a new NFC service platform and led the NFC Forum Developer Workgroup and NFC Global Competition. Mr. Chavers is also the co-author of ‘NFC Reference Guide for Air Travel,’ an IATA and NFC-Forum joint publication and served as Technical Editor for the book ‘Professional NFC Application Development for Android’.

Loreal LeGate

As Marketing Director of GlobalPlatform, Ms. LeGate is responsible for leading GlobalPlatform’s strategic marketing initiatives including value proposition articulation, branding, and membership communications. She promotes GlobalPlatform messaging across all channels and all targeted markets. Ms. LeGate contributes to marketing strategy planning discussions alongside the Executive and Technical Directors and PR Agency. She manages marketing for special programs and campaigns that are of timely and strategic interest to the organization. She also interacts with the various technical committees, working groups, and task forces to generate marketing and communications ideas including press releases, industry interviews, made-simple guides, public website copy updates, byline articles, newsletters, white papers, videos, animations and social media content.

Prior to her appointment to a role within GlobalPlatform, Ms. LeGate held various marketing, business development, and communications positions at American Express. Most recently, as Director of Global Marketing, she was responsible for worldwide marketing activities associated with the company's global network and emerging payments solutions. She led a team of senior marketing managers responsible for value messaging, branding, training and promotional materials, and multi-channel distribution including web and conferences. While at American Express, Ms. LeGate served on two EMVCo Task Forces over three years.

Ms. LeGate joined GlobalPlatform in 2016.

Vicky Guo

China Academy of Information and Communication Technology (CAICT)

Ms. Guo has 11 years of experience in mobile security and her work at CAICT focuses on research within TEE architecture and technology. Her main responsibilities include managing and drafting standards for the mobile terminal TEE and bring your own device (BYOD) for the China Communications Standards Association (CCSA). She also represents CAICT within GlobalPlatform.

In 2015, Ms. Guo played a key role in CAICT becoming a GlobalPlatform qualified laboratory. She has also organized multiple TEE technology workshops and relevant discussions around the topic.

Ms. Guo was elected as Chair of the China Task Force in 2016.

Victor An

Mr. An was elected as Co-Vice-Chair of the China Task Force in 2016.

Xinmiao Chang

Michael Lu

Mr. Lu is Business Development Director at Trustonic, the leading provider of TEE solutions. He is responsible for the Greater China Region for Trustonic and previously Chaired the Premium Content Task Force at GlobalPlatform. He has over 15 years of experience in the media and technology industries. Before joining Trustonic, he worked at ARM Ltd. where he was responsible for product marketing of ARM's security architecture platform and products based on ARM TrustZone technologies. His previous roles include a position with Freesat, a BBC/ITV satellite broadcasting platform in the UK, where he was responsible for UK digital TV standards and certification regime for UK retail TV and STB products. He is Vice Chair of the China Task Force.

Fang Qiang

Mr. Qiang currently works within the Standardization and Research team at Alibaba. He has over five years’ experience in the field of information security, and has participated on behalf of Alibaba in the development of domestic and international industry standards in collaboration with organizations such as ITU, GlobalPlatform and CCSA.

Mr. Qiang is particularly interested in standardization and security research, and is dedicated to promoting the standardization of operating system technology.

Mr. Qiang was elected as Co-Vice-Chair of the China Task Force in 2016.

Jean-Philippe Amiel

Mr. Amiel is the Director of Nextendis and a Senior Consultant with both technology and domain expertise. He provides consultancy for a number of large companies in their deployment strategy for mobile services. Since 2005, Mr. Amiel has been monitoring the evolution of GlobalPlatform technology, bringing his expertise to large mobile network operator groups and public transport operators through the coordination of the Ulysse initiative, which is aimed at specifying the usage of transport ticketing on NFC phones.

Henry Castellan

Mr. Castellan is the Associate Director and Co-founder of Monetech. He is a senior expert consultant in smart card technology related to the transport, banking and retail markets. Mr. Castellan has recently led major NFC projects in France, Europe and Japan and is involved in the first French NFC commercial pilot, Nice Ville du NFC Mobile. Mr. Castellan is a former technical trainer and has conducted training sessions on USIM cards, over-the-air (OTA) provisioning and GlobalPlatform's Card Specifications.

Bart van Hoek

Bart van Hoek is a mobile payments expert and works as a principal consultant for UL’s Transaction Security Division. Bart has worked on many large mobile payments/TSM/NFC initiatives such as Euro5 and Sixpack in The Netherlands. Bart has been involved with Smart Card Alliance as the stream lead in the Mobile & NFC work stream, where he has organized the inventory of all mobile NFC standards.

Bart has also been involved with Softcard, previously known as Isis, prior to Softcard being acquired by Google. Softcard was one of the biggest NFC initiatives in the world and Bart was responsible for the product development. He performed the roles of functional analyst and systems integrator. Bart has hands-on experience and in-depth knowledge on TSMs, Secure Elements, GlobalPlatform, mobile payments and HCE.

Bart is currently working on several projects with financial institutions and handset manufacturers, to introduce mobile payment related services.

Sebastian Hans

Sebastian currently serves as Principal Member of Technical Staff at Oracle, previously Sun Microsystems Inc., where he is responsible for all smart card standardization activities with a strong focus on SIM and UICC technology. While at Sun Microsystems Inc, Sebastian has also headed up business development within the telecommunications market and has driven advanced pilot projects for the deployment of Java Card in the banking, insurance and mobile communication markets. Sebastian represents Sun Microsystems Inc. in ETSI SCP, 3GPP, OMA and is the Vice Chair of ETSI SCP TEC.

Hervé Sibert

Mr. Sibert has been elected as Chair of the TES Security Working Group.

Mr. Sibert is Security Architect at Apple, working on security features in the space of SE and TEE. Prior to this, he worked on cryptography and information security in general at Orange, NXP, ST- Ericsson and then STMicroelectronics, supporting the deployment of TEE technology since its inception. Mr. Sibert has published 20 academic papers and is the inventor of more than 30 patents in embedded and information security.

Don Felton

Mr. Felton has served as Chair of GlobalPlatform’s TEE Specification Working Group, part of the TEE Committee, since 2011.

Mr. Felton joined Trustonic in 2012, as part of its creation as a joint venture by ARM, Gemalto and Giesecke & Devrient. Mr. Felton has driven deployment and understanding of TEE based security technology since its creation and has been an active contributor to the Trusted Computing Group Mobile Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 1.2 developments, Open Mobile Terminal Platform (OMTP) Advanced Trusted Environment (ATE) standards and GlobalPlatform Specifications.

Christian Damour

Following 13 years as a certification leader within a licensed information technology security evaluation facility (ITSEF), Christian joined FIME in 2011 to develop and manage the company’s security offering. Ms. Lavatelli has been elected as Chair of GlobalPlatform’s TES Labs Working Group.

As co-founder and CTO of Internet of Trust, Ms. Lavetelli has large expertise in the design and set up of security evaluation programs, in particular for smartcards, terminals, mobile devices and content protection. She is the lead author of numerous Protection Profiles and evaluation methodologies and participates actively to a number of international standardisation working groups.

Ms. Lavatelli participates in a number of standardization groups including ISCI, JTEMS and GlobalPlatform, and actively contributes to the usage and adoption of Common Criteria.

Suresh Marisetty

He has extensive experience driving end-to-end system on chip security solutions from concept to product delivery. In his current role at ARM, Mr. Marisetty focuses on the emerging market segments of automotive, IoT, and embedded.  Prior to this he worked at Intel where he led large silicon solution engineering projects.

Mr. Marisetty holds 25 patents, several publications, and is a co-author of the book ‘Beyond BIOS – Developing with UEFI’ and has authored many architecture specifications over the years.

Sampo Sovio

Mr. Sovio has been elected as Chair of the Functional APIs Working Group.

He has several years’ industry experience in cryptographic algorithms, PKI, usable security and security protocols. He has extensive knowledge of working with GlobalPlatform Specifications and was involved in the TEE Internal Core API from an early stage. He has vast experience in using TEE and TEE based services in real-world environments.

Jean-François Picart

He joined STMicroelectronics in 2003 and since 1999 Olivier has been active in several smart card projects for banking, transport and near field communication.

Olivier joined the GlobalPlatform Board of Directors in 2017 and was appointed as GlobalPlatform Secretary / Treasurer from 2021 – 2022. He now serves as GlobalPlatform’s Vice Chair and Security Task Force Chair.

Stephane Schirar

Mr. Schirar has been participating since 2016 in the GlobalPlatform activities by introducing OFL and VPP technologies. Mr Schirar also represents Gemalto in the European Telecommunications Standards Institute’s (ETSI) Smart Secure Platform (SSP) Technical Working Group and in the SIMalliance PBL Working Group and promote, there, the GlobalPlatform technology.

Mr. Schirar joined Gemalto in 1997 and since then has been involved in major projects in the Telecommunications field.

Russ Gyurek

Russell Gyurek is the Chair of GlobalPlatform’s IoTopia Task Force and the Director, IoT-CTO and Industries in Cisco IoT CTO Group. He has over 25 years of networking related technology experience, the majority in leadership positions.  Russ’ range of expertise includes IoT/connectivity of things, analytics and big data, cloud, optical networking technologies, broadband architectures and related technical policy, strategic partnerships and emerging market development.  He has held various leadership roles in creating strategy and direction in these areas.

In Russ’ current role he is responsible for technology leadership, market development, future looking university research engagements, partner due diligence and enablement related to IoT and IoT security baselines and policy.  The CTO group evaluates future trends, emerging standards, technologies, and architectures that drive and influence Cisco’s market portfolio relating to IoT. He also works closely with the vertical solutions organization – turning strategy into real world IoT deployments, including IIoT, connected transportation and connected communities.  For the past year he has been leading an industry wide effort focused on the security and scale-ability of “things”.  This effort is now in productization and development with the various players in the IoT eco-system which has led to the creation of an industry consortia called IoTopia. In addition, Russ is a value-of-the-infrastructure advisor to customers, helping to create new business models and use cases to leverage network data for cloud and real time event processing.

Russ engaged in numerous sponsored research work at various universities during his 20 year career at Cisco.   In industry related work, he holds a board seats on University of Washington IoT Board, and the NCSU ECE strategic advisory board, Georgia Tech’s CDAIT board, RTCC board, the CleanTech Corridor board and represents Cisco on RIOT (regional IoT organization).  In these board roles he has collaborated with multi-stakeholders to create new programs for IoT and data science/analysis.  Russ has held board roles in the past on the FTTH Council and the OCF (Open Connectivity Foundation).  He is a participating member on Global Platform- leading the technical committee for IoTopia, 5GAA, and 5G ACIA.  He has given numerous keynotes at conferences and research workshops on IoT and related topics.  Russ has played key roles in IEEE standards development and ratification including 802.3.  Russ holds an appointed position on the FCC-TAC (Technical Advisory Council) where he has chaired Working Groups on the “sunset of the PSTN”, “network resiliency”, “IoT”, Next Generation Internet and “Next Generation Policy and Regulations”.  He is currently the working group Chairman for the 5G/IoT FCC working group team.  He was just reappointed to another 2-year term on the FCC TAC in May of 2019.  Russ has led and participated on numerous technical policy teams in the past 10 years.  These include the state of California, West Virginia, and the country of Lebanon.  Prior to Cisco, Russ held senior technical and leadership roles at BellSouth (AT&T), in the networking part of the business.

Béatrice Peirani

Dr. Beatrice Peirani is a standardization expert at Thales (former Gemalto), where her work focuses on security and cryptography.

After ten years working with AFNOR, CEN, and ETSI in the field of electronic signatures, and serving as an expert for the European Commission supporting the development of the eIDAS Regulation, Dr. Peirani is now using her expertise to support other standardization organizations. Specifically, since 2016, Dr. Peirani has served as the Chair of GlobalPlatform’s Crypto Sub-Task Force, which evaluates and recommends algorithms for industries such as banks, transportation, and governments. Her work with GlobalPlatform includes overseeing and providing expert input to the organization’s Security Task Force in the areas of cryptographic agility and post-quantum cryptography.

As an active member of the FIDO Alliance, she pushed for the definition of a new security certification methodology for mobile security software solution. She is co-chair of the FIDO Alliance’s Security & Privacy Working Group  and co-chair the organization’s Certification Working Group. She serves as a liaison between the FIDO Alliance and GlobalPlatform, including facilitating the adoption of GlobalPlatform TEE Protection Profile, as a companion program for FIDO Alliance’s Security Level L3.

Richard is a regular speaker and influencer in the cybersecurity arena.

At Trustonic, Richard’s focus has been on enabling the telecoms industry – manufacturers and mobile operators, the automotive industry as well as application developers, to all benefit from embedded security and strong device identity. Prior to Trustonic, Richard held various roles at Citrix including Chief Architect, Distinguished Engineer and Chief Technology Officer. During 20 years at Citrix, he led projects ranging from embedded software to global enterprise systems, with a focus on user and developer experience.

He holds a PhD in Computer Science from Cambridge University, focusing on identity federation for users, devices and services.

In his current role, Claus is responsible for defining and driving strategic standardization activities within G+D’s business segment Trusted Connected Devices. Prior to this, Claus held various positions in project management, R&D, technology office and product management within G+D since joining the company in 1996.

Claus has a long history in standardization of smart card technologies and was seconded to the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) from 2002-2003. In 2009, Claus was appointed Director and Head of Embedded Development for mobile device solutions and software security. He headed the Innovation department within the R&D organization from 2014 onwards and was responsible for carrying out technical feasibility studies and prototyping for new technologies.

Claus has a master’s degree in Computer Sciences from the Collaborative University of Mannheim.

Claus has been a member of GlobalPlatform’s Board of Directors since 2021, and was appointed as Secretary / Treasurer in 2022.

Chris Steck

Chris Steck is Head of Standardization, IoT & Industries for Cisco, where he is responsible for the overall strategy for Cisco’s commercial and industrial IoT standards initiatives, which includes aligning Cisco’s IoT security standards strategy across multiple vertical (5GAA, 5G-ACIA, IIC, OPC, OPAF, OCF) and horizontal consortia (WFA, LoRaWAN, 3GPP, GSMA, oneM2M, OMA,Thread, IEC, IEEE, TCG and Charter of Trust).  Chris also serves on the board of the Open Connectivity Foundation where Cisco is leading Smart Commercial Building specification, and open source efforts to develop an application-agnostic common IoT app framework to drive the proliferation of IoT devices that are interoperable and secure on both managed and unmanaged networks.

Chris held a similar technology strategy role at Jasper, prior to their acquisition by Cisco, driving Jasper’s standards interests in LPWA networking, device provisioning/management, and IoT security. Prior to that, he drove standardization of voice enhancement software and hardware capabilities for Audience (now a part of Knowles), and held similar responsibilities at RealNetworks, driving standards and guiding research in digital media, while serving on the board of the International Multimedia Telecommunications Consortium as CTO.  Much further back he spent several years at Microsoft on Win95 through XP.

A veteran of several startups along the way, he’s also created mobile apps for managing family life, a WiFi phone switch, an operating system GUI for early smartphones, and computer telephony & speech recognition software.

Mathieu Amiel

Juergen is currently heading the Security Analysis Department within the CTO office of G+D supporting different divisions and areas with security related services. He is also related to topics of vulnerability management and internal organization of security related processes within G+D.

Juergen joined G+D in 1999 and managed several departments in the R&D area. Within this time he took over responsibility for different testing activities ranging from embedded to client server systems. He managed also an R&D innovation department on topics including  AI techniques, white-box-cryptography, chip design topics and biometry.

Currently Juergen is representing G+D in the JHAS (JIL Hardware-related Attacks Group) as well as in the DIN NIA 17 group. Since 2001 Additionally he shares his experience on software testing and embedded systems security at the University of Applied Sciences in Munich.

Juergen has a master’s degree and a PhD in physics from the University of Regensburg.
