IoT Task Force

The IoT Task Force is co-chaired by Nils Gerhardt from G+D Mobile Security and Sebastian Hans from Oracle. All GlobalPlatform members are eligible to participate in this group.

The IoT Task Force identifies, defines and evaluates the business and technical requirements of existing and emerging secure services to best support IoT products in an increasingly connected world.

The IoT Task Force works to:

  • Gather industry intelligence to understand business requirements from the following sectors and consumer/industrial products:
    • Smartphone and tablets
    • Wearables
    • Gaming
    • Automobile external information exchange (infotainment etc.)
    • Automobile critical systems, internal ECUs (Electronic Control Units)
    • Products in smart homes.
    • Heating, ventilation and air conditioning
    • Industrial controls / proximity security
    • Power distribution and management, smart grids
    • Health and medical equipment
    • Manufacturing equipment, smart factory
  • Promote the use of GlobalPlatform technology and specifications within relevant markets.
  • Promote GlobalPlatform’s IoT initiatives IoTopia and Security Evaluation Standard for IoT Platforms (SESIP) within relevant markets.
  • Collaborate with industry partners including the Car Connectivity Consortium, ETSI, GSMA, IoT Connectivity Alliance (ICA), Industrial Internet Consortium (IIC), NFC Forum, NIST, Open Mobile Alliance, oneM2M, SIMalliance , and Trusted Platform Consortium.

Current Priorities
